On this, the first Sabbath of 2023, what is the greatest resolution you can make? Oh, and the list goes on. . . "To lose weight. . .to get healthier. . .to not fight with my spouse. . ." and on and on. There is a thought that has kept me through the years. A thought that has been a primary source of maintaining my relationship with Jesus as a strong reality in my life. Here's the thought:
"How are we to advance spiritually?" is the question of greatest importance. How many we know individually that God is in us of a truth? When we individually receive the earnest of the inheritance; when we are individually led by the Spirit of God, and walk in all humility of mind; when we walk in love as dear children with subdued hearts, crying unto God, Teach me Thy way; when we listen for every whisper of the Holy Spirit, the Lord will carry our minds to a higher, holier standard, where self is merged in Christ." Letter & Manuscripts - Vol. 13, 83, 1898, par 6
This year, 2023, my desire as your pastor is that you will:
1. Receive the earnest of the inheritance.
2. You will be led by the Spirit of God.
3. You will walk humbly in mind.
4. You will love with a subdued heart.
5. You will listen to every whisper of the Holy Spirit.
By desiring this reality for your spirituality you will achieve the following thought: "Keep the conscience tender, that you may hear the faintest whisper of the voice that spake as never man spake." My Life Today, p.322.5.
